A brow lift, or forehead lift, gives your face a more natural and youthful appearance. Brow lifts are techniques that reposition low eyebrows and improve the associated hooding of the upper eyelids.
There are many available options for elevating the position of the eyebrows, some as simple as a Botox brow lift utilizing Botox. Every brow lift patient at Total Aesthetics receives an individualized aesthetic plan designed to help them achieve their goals, based upon a careful analysis of their facial anatomy, lifestyle and risk tolerance. Our goal is to minimize risk , cost and recovery for our patients by employing the safest, least invasive and most reliable technology and techniques.

A brow lift is a procedure that is primarily used to reposition the eyebrows to help give a more alert and rested appearance to the forehead and the area around the eyes.
Improvement in wrinkling of the forehead and space between the eyebrows and above the nose have historically been part of brow lifts, however, since the advent of the Botox brow lift, it is used almost exclusively in our practice to elevate the brows.
With minimal change to the hairline, brow lifts may be combined with a facelift or eyelid surgery and can also treat wrinkles in the upper face. Brow lifts can often be performed in the privacy of our office-based surgical facility under local anesthesia.
We believe that brow lifts should be subtle and natural. Today, at our Total Aesthetics office in Westport brow lifts are used almost exclusively to reposition the eyebrows. For those troubled by excess skin, brow lifting can also help alleviate hooding in the upper eyelids.

Following a brow lift Westport patients may receive a brief wrapping to reduce swelling. You will be provided with pain medication to assist with any discomfort. After a brow lift expect some swelling in the face including the forehead, cheeks and the area around the eyes. This swelling can take a week or more to subside.
Steps can be taken at home to assist with the healing process such as elevation of the head and use of ice packs. We will review activity restrictions and when to return to exercise with you and on average, Westport brow lift patients return to work after about one week.
As with any medical or surgical procedure a brow lift carries some risk. As an important part of your consultation, Dr. O’Connell will discuss all potential complications and any alternatives for you to make the best decision possible based on your goals. Some specific risks of a brow lift include bleeding, infection, unsatisfactory scars, hair loss and wound healing difficulties.
There are many different types of brow lifts and they are categorized primarily based upon the location of the scars and the areas of the brows that are elevated. Some examples are the bi-coronal brow lift, the pre-hairline brow lift, the temporal brow lift, the endoscopic brow lift and the direct brow lift.
Neurotoxin injections like Botox and Dysport can be used to lift the brows. The effect of this brow elevation is temporary compared to other techniques.
With a trichophytic or hairline brow lift, the incisions are made at the front of the hairline and the eyebrows are elevated by removing a small crescent of forehead skin.
With an endoscopic brow lift, an endoscope with a small camera, allows the surgeon to visualize and lift the tissues of the forehead. The forehead skin is then stabilized in an elevated position.
With a temporal brow lift, the incisions are placed within the temporal hair along the sides of the forehead to elevate the outer, or lateral, aspect of the eyebrows.
The coronal brow lift is the oldest technique of brow lifting. An incision within the hair runs from essentially ear to ear, over the top of the head. With the coronal brow lift technique the forehead muscles can be modified to reduce associated wrinkling. Lengthening of the forehead with elevation of the hairline can be considered disadvantages of this technique.
