Saline implants do not require surveillance with bi-yearly MRIs and the Ideal Implant is associated with some of the lowest rupture and capsule contracture rates ever reported. A common procedure that Dr. O'Connell performs is removal of existing silicone gel implants (sometimes with their surrounding scar capsule) and replacement with Ideal, saline-based implants. This can usually be done in the privacy of our nationally accredited office-based surgical facility, at a quite reasonable cost without need for general anesthesia.

The breasts may be wrapped in dressings or a support bra to minimize bruising, swelling, and to support the breasts as they heal. As part of his rapid recovery program, Dr. O’Connell commonly recommends that Westport breast augmentation patients resume light activities within 48 hours. Sports activities can be resumed in three to four weeks, and exercises involving the pectoral muscles can usually be resumed in about six weeks.
